About our Samba Kids
Carolyn has been a part of Casa Samba sense its inception. she is on the staff of Tulane University and has been a
strong force in the development of multicultural student affairs for the past 25 years. She began learning
Brazilian dance from several Master dance teachers in Brasil and Paula Reias and Sonya Nassiminto from Oba Oba.
Here Teachers;After the touring venture Oba Oba Paula Reias and Sonya Nassiminto returned
to the United States to begin teaching Brazilian dance in Washington DC. Since then Carolyn has studied with them
and frequently hosts workshops for the New Orleans community. This helped her dance career by learning from top
professional Brazilian dancers she now teaches and leads Casa Samba classes and workshops for the past 20 years.
Currently she's also an adjunct professor in the Dance department at Tulane University where she teaches Brazilian
operations and master furniture and woodwork designer has been a member of Casa Samba for 14 years. He has devoted
a part of his busy life in order to assist in maintaining proper operations and functions of Casa Samba.
Paul is also a professional still walker and has worked with Casa Samba in
developing a still walking program for children which teaches the children self-esteem and confidence by learning
to walk on stilts. His program has been reaching the community for the past five years and is also the newest
addition to the Casa Samba children's programs
